First Friday Art Walk on Palm Avenue

Palm Avenue, Downtown Sarasota, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Free admission. The monthly First Friday Art Walk transforms Palm Avenue into an open-air gallery experience. Browse fine art galleries, jewelry boutiques, and restaurants along the avenue, with live music spilling out of participating venues and complimentary refreshments along the way. This is one of Sarasota's most cherished monthly traditions, drawing art lovers and curious visitors alike into the heart of the downtown arts district.

Summer Circus Spectacular at The Ringling

The Historic Asolo Theater at The Ringling, 5401 Bay Shore Road. Shows at 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 5:00 PM. This is the final weekend of this beloved summer tradition featuring world-class circus artistry in collaboration with The Circus Arts Conservatory. The air-conditioned Historic Asolo Theater provides a comfortable escape from the August heat, and The Ringling's Bayfront Gardens and Museum of Art are also open for exploring before or after the show.

Mumford & Sons at Benchmark International Arena

Benchmark International Arena at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds. 7:00 PM. The Grammy-winning British folk-rock band brings their signature sound to Sarasota for a Friday night concert. Tickets available through the venue.

Florida Studio Theatre: "Songbirds of the Seventies" Opens

Florida Studio Theatre: "Legacy: Motown & More!"

Florida Studio Theatre, Goldstein Cabaret. Opened August 4 and continuing its run. This high-energy revue celebrates the timeless hits of Motown with the soulful sounds that defined a generation.

Florida Studio Theatre: "The Last Romance"

Florida Studio Theatre, Gompertz Theatre, 1265 1st Street. Running through August 16. Downtown Sarasota Farmers Market

Lemon Avenue and Main Street, 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Free admission. Rain or shine. Sarasota's weekly farmers market has been a downtown institution since 1979. Over 80 vendors offer local produce, fresh-baked bread, honey, artisan crafts, plants, and prepared foods. Arrive early for the best selection and enjoy the lively Main Street atmosphere as it fills with residents and visitors throughout the morning.

Florida Studio Theatre: "Out of Bounds" Improv Comedy Opens

Florida Studio Theatre, Bowne's Lab. Opening performance of this improv comedy show. FST's improv offerings are always a crowd-pleaser, with fast-paced sketch and improv comedy from the theatre's talented company members.

The Alex Lopez Express + Doug Deming and The Jewel Tones

Downtown Sarasota venue, 8:00 PM. A double bill featuring two powerhouse blues and roots music acts. The Alex Lopez Express delivers high-energy blues rock, while Doug Deming and The Jewel Tones bring their masterful blend of traditional blues and swing.

The street is closed to traffic, creating a pedestrian-friendly block party atmosphere that draws residents from across the region. Dogs are welcome on short leashes, and guests may bring chairs for seating. Arrive early to find parking and grab dinner from one of the food vendors.

Sights + Sounds at Waterside Place: Music Compound - Heartbreakers

Waterside Place, 1560 Lakefront Drive, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Free admission. The Sights + Sounds summer concert series continues with a performance by the Music Compound, a local music education organization. Their band Heartbreakers takes the stage at the Waterside Pavilion for an early evening concert by the water. Grab dinner from one of the surrounding restaurants and enjoy the lakefront setting.

Sound Bath at The Wellness Space

Lakewood Ranch Main Street Trivia Tournament

Every Sunday, over 100 local vendors set up at Waterside Place offering organic produce, fresh flowers, specialty spices, honey, artisan bread, baked goods, and prepared foods. Frequently named one of the best farmers markets in the country, it is a Sunday ritual for Lakewood Ranch residents and a lovely way to spend an August morning. Live music and family activities are also part of the market experience. The lakefront setting at Waterside Place makes it one of the most scenic markets in Southwest Florida.

Live Music on the Riverwalk

Village of the Arts ArtWalk Continues

Village of the Arts, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Free admission. The ArtWalk continues into Saturday with daytime gallery hours. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the neighborhood at a more relaxed pace, visit artist studios in full daylight, and browse the boutiques and cafes that call the Village home. Many studios offer demonstrations and the chance to purchase original artwork directly from the artists.

Mind Magic LIVE with Mentalist Joshua Seth
